Inxs: baby live at wembley stadium movie watch download. Six years to the day after Live Aid, Londons famous Wembley Stadium played host to a second concert would go down in history. On 13 July 1991, Aussie superstars INXS delivered the show of their lives at Wembley, with their career-defining gig captured in all its widescreen glory by a spin-off concert film and live album – both of which were titled Live Baby Live. At Wembley, INXS surfed the crest of an almighty wave that first started to swell when they released their breakthrough album, Kick, in 1987, and continued to build with 1990s X: another highly polished pop album that yielded multi-platinum sales and thrust the band into rocks premier league. Listen to Live Baby Live: Wembley Stadium on Apple Music and Spotify. “The whole band was on fire that night” INXS Wembley Stadium date was just one of many stops on their high-profile Summer XS tour of 1991 and – as the original 11 November 1991 edition of Live Baby Live proved – they were on ferocious form. That first editions 16 tracks were culled from shows in cities ranging from Sydney to Dublin and Rio De Janeiro, and they demonstrated there were few bands on the planet capable of touching INXS at that particular moment in time. The Antipodean stars were on a roll when they arrived in Europe in the summer of 1991. Theyd completed the tours successful “homecoming” leg in Australia during April and May, after which their Summer XS itinerary found them headlining European festival shows from 28 June through to 16 July. To a man, the band agreed the high point of the jaunt was the 13 July show at Wembley Stadium. “A night to remember for all time” “The whole band was on fire that night”, bassist Garry Gary Beers recalled in 2019. “Michael was so good, he sang his heart out and gave every person in the crowd a night to remember for all time. He truly had that amazing ability to make the biggest shows as intimate as the pubs we grew up in musically. ” INXS needed to be on top of their game that night, not least because they were topping a bill of real pedigree. Their headlining slot was preceded by sets from fast-rising indie-dance outfit Jesus Jones, Irish favourites The Hothouse Flowers, San Franciscan rockers Jellyfish, widely-acclaimed British soul-rock outfit Roachford and iconic Blondie star Deborah Harry. However, as director David Mallets recently-restored Live Baby Live film and its newly-released, 21-track audio counterpart so vividly reveal, INXS were never going to falter. Michael Hutchence and company may have stepped out in front of an awe-inspiring 74, 000 people, but as soon as drummer Jon Farriss hammered out the machine-like rhythm of ‘Guns In The Sky and his colleagues locked in behind him, they never once looked back. “One of the biggest global sensations at the height of their powers” The nights setlist drew heavily on both Kick and X, with vast swathes of the crowd moving as one to ‘New Sensation and hollering back the chorus of the sinewy, blues-based ‘Mystify. Kicking off six consecutive tracks from X, a tense, measured performance of ‘The Stairs ramped up the tension, then gave way to the swaggering, wah-wah-driven ‘Know The Difference, before a soaring ‘Disappear provoked an enormous roar from the crowd. Shrewdly, INXS kept a battery of hits in reserve for the home stretch, which included celebratory versions of ‘Bitter Tears, ‘Suicide Blonde and the biggest, phattest version of their breakthrough hit, ‘What You Need. The latter song culminated in a lengthy call-and-response workout between Hutchence and the crowd; for all his poise and consummate cool, the much-missed frontman was visibly moved by the love his band received that night. “F_ ing hell, it looks like all Englands out there! ” he said, his voice cracking with emotion as ‘Suicide Blonde wound down. If that wasnt enough, encores including ‘Need You Tonight, a heartstring-tugging ‘Never Tear Us Apart and a seven-minute ‘Devil Inside almost brought the venues famous Twin Towers down. By the time the Aussie legends finally relinquished the stage, no one present would have quibbled with executive music producer Giles Martins assertion that theyd just witnessed “one of the biggest global sensations at the height of their powers”. Yet the band also felt that Live Baby Live documented them scaling a once-in-lifetime peak: “We were just six blokes from Australia that treated Wembley Stadium like just another pub gig, ” Tim Farriss said in 2019. “We went in with a PA and a few lights and played our asses off. No ego ramps, no back-up singers, no props, no grand pianos, just the six of us – and the audience went nuts! Thats all we needed! ” Live Baby Live: Wembley Stadium can be bought here.

The movie recently opened the prestigious 13th annual Byron Bay Film Festival in Australia with a standing ovation for its global film festival premiere. You can check it out below. Available now from Live Baby Live ‘The Stairs is often cited by INXS fans as the best single the band never released and named by Sir Elton John as his favourite ever INXS song. The Stairs was only ever issued as a limited edition live single in Holland making it one of the most highly prized items in the INXS canon. Its truly one of the bands ‘lost classics. This new digital single of ‘The Stairs was recorded on Saturday 13th July 1991, when INXS, one of the worlds most revered and iconic bands, delivered the gig of their lives at Londons Wembley Stadium to 74, 000 ecstatic fans. After a decade and a half on the road the group was at the peak of their live powers and the performance that day shows they were now indeed a world-class stadium band. INXSs Kirk Pengilly says of the song: “The Stairs was one of our favourites to perform live. It starts simply giving us a breather on stage and then builds & builds right to the end. I think this (LBL) version is more powerful than the studio recording. Definitely one of Michaels finest, “social comment” lyrics. At the time Michael Hutchence described ‘The Stairs as “The most ambitious song Ive ever written. ” Guitarist Tim Farriss remembers that it was “Probably one of my favourite songs we ever recorded and a stand out track of Live Baby Live. Pretty much sums up the ever changing passages of the lives we all lead and how they all intertwine. ” Andrew Farriss who co-wrote the song with Hutchence spoke about the track in 1990 saying “It deals with people in highly urbanised environments not communicating”. Almost thirty years later the song has lost none of its power and is as relevant today as it was then. INXS, one of the worlds most revered and iconic bands, delivered the gig of their lives at Londons Wembley Stadium to 74, 000 ecstatic fans. After a decade and a half on the road the band were at the peak of their live powers and the performance filmed that day shows they were not only a world-class stadium band but the only band that ever had the guts to walk onto the stage at Wembley Stadium in front of 74, 000 people and jam their own intro! INXS played over 2000 shows before singer Michael Hutchences untimely passing 20 years ago, but for many fans, Wembley was THE ONE. Not only were the band on fire, but the audience was too, both band and crowd knew this would be the performance of a lifetime. Whats more there were no screens, no ramps, no backing singers, no props and cell phones – just six guys playing as though their lives depended on it. INXS delivered hit after hit to an ecstatic audience for nearly two hours! The event, called ‘Summer XS, was immortalised in the best-selling long-form video Live Baby Live (directed by David Mallet) and partly inspired by the album of the same name. Twenty-eight years on, Live Baby Live has been painstakingly restored over a six-month period from the original 35mm negative to 4K Ultra HD. The film is also now presented in glorious cinematic widescreen, which was created by going through the film shot by shot and repositioning everyone to get the best out of the frame. As uDiscover Music previously reported, the full seminal live show will also be released across 3LP Deluxe, 2CD & all digital formats on 15 November. The stunning performance featuring hits ‘Need You Tonight‘, ‘New Sensation‘, ‘Devil Inside‘ and many more has been specifically remixed by Sam Okell at Abbey Road Studios for the new audio reissues. The vinyl & CD formats feature unseen imagery from the show, new essays from the band & more. The original Live Baby Live album went Top 10 in Australia and the UK following its release in 1991, going on to Platinum status in the US and Australia. The original Live Baby Live release was a 16-track companion with tracks recorded around the world on the X-Factor Tour. The Live Baby Live soundtrack album is out on 15 November and can be bought here.

Filmmaker Richard Lowenstein recently spoke of how he was “terrified” of losing intimate footage that Kylie Minogue had given him to use in the movie.

Winning two Brit Awards, INXS had played a record-breaking run of shows in their Australian homeland, headlined Rock In Rio, and undertaken a sold-out tour of the USA. However, it was the events of July 13 th 1991 that would take the band into the musical stratosphere. Six years to the day of Live Aid and five years and a day since the band supported Queen at Wembley Stadium, INXS headlined their own show at the famed venue to a sell-out crowd of 73, 791 crazed fans with support from Jellyfish, Roachford, Jesus Jones, Deborah Harry, and The Hothouse Flowers. The event, called ‘Summer XS, was immortalised in the best-selling long-form video ‘Live Baby Live (directed by David Mallet) and partly by the album of the same name. Twenty-eight years on, the film has been painstakingly restored over a six-month period from the original 35mm negative to 4K Ultra HD. The film is also now presented in glorious cinematic widescreen, which was created by going through the film shot by shot and repositioning every one to get the best out of the frame. To accompany the astonishing visual upgrade, the audio will now be presented in full Dolby Atmos, created by the bands Executive Music Producer Giles Martin and Sam Okell, at Abbey Road Studios. Even better, the restoration process unveiled a ‘lost performance which was not included in the original releases – ‘Lately from the ‘X album. It is now returned to its rightful position in the concert setlist. INXS long-time manager Chris M. Murphy had spent a decade scouring the world trying to locate the original 35mm film cans to produce this result. With the search becoming increasingly desperate and just when (almost) everyone had given up hope, the missing canisters were miraculously found in Australia. With the upcoming release of the already critically acclaimed ‘Mystify: Michael Hutchence documentary, Murphy said “When youre working on a project for so long, theres the fear ‘Whats everyone going to think? That turns into astonishment. Watching it back Michael is better than even I thought he was – how he managed the stage. His voice became more powerful as the gig went along. It was extraordinary to watch – the crowd and band were as one”. “We were just six blokes from Australia that treated Wembley Stadium like just another pub gig, we went it in with a PA and a few lights and played our asses off. No ego ramps, no back-up singers, no props, no grand pianos etc, just the six of us… the audience went nuts! Thats all we needed! ” commented Tim Farriss from INXS. On returning to the original live multi-tracks to create the stunning new Dolby Atmos mix, Executive Music Producer Giles Martin said “This new mix of Live Baby Live captures one of the biggest global sensations at the height of their powers. INXS are one of the greatest bands to have graced the Wembley Stadium stage. The sheer scale of seeing an audience moving as one to the music is mesmerising. Working on the film took me back to a time where an audience completely connects with a band without holding up any phones, and the energy in the stadium is mind blowing”. The recording of this legendary show almost didnt happen. With only days to go before the band were due to play the stadium, Murphy came up with the grand plan to film the special event. Having discovered the group a dozen years previously, he intuitively knew this was INXS and Michael Hutchences ‘moment. This show would be their defining document. Murphy rallied all of his contacts in London like a 1991 version of ‘The Greatest Showman trying to raise the money to film the Wembley show. Legendary director David Mallet, who had worked with the likes of Pink Floyd and David Bowie, accepted the task but needed 17 cameras and a helicopter to shoot this special moment in time, all on expensive 35mm film. As Chris Murphy and Michael Hutchence stood together side of stage gazing at the sold-out crowd, the INXS musicians were already on stage jamming into ‘Guns in the Sky. Michael peered way out into the crowd, then with a smile looked back at his mentor and trusted friend Murphy “So how much are we making for this”? Murphy, without flinching, rolled two of his fingers into a zero. Then said “17 cameras and a helicopter mate”. Michael responded, “You m. r! ” then ran onto the stage to deliver the performance of his lifetime. Murphy had taken the very bold decision to contribute INXS income from the sold-out show to capture what Murphy believed would be the highlight of INXS career. Geoff Kempin, who would later co-found Eagle Rock, was at the time head of PolyGram Video, and he came to the rescue to assist in the funding the filming of Live Baby Live. Who would have known 28 years later that ‘Live Baby Live would be held up as one of the best live shows ever put to film. A special edition of the Live Baby Live Wembley 1991 soundtrack will be announced in the coming weeks. All these years later, people still ask the question is it LIVE BABY LIVE? or LIVE BABY LIVE LIVE? Murphy, who came up with the title, will always smile and respond, “just listen to the opening lines of ‘New Sensation”. The film will open in Irish cinemas on November 27th 2019 Visit for local listings & tickets.
